Sleevage

I love album cover art. As a nipper, every square-inch of my bedroom wall was covered in album sleeves. God knows what I did with the actual records. I think that may be one of the reasons I became a graphic designer in the first place. Even now, I’m generally more interested in the record design than the music.

It is a dying art however, with cd’s unable to provide the space or grandeur to create something truly epic. Even these are on the verge of extinction with pretty much everything digital and downloadable.

Thankfully Sleevage is on hand to make sure we have a record (pun sort of intended) of the incredible cover art that has emerged over the last few decades. Some will be familiar but many were new to me. As well as showcasing the designs, Sleevage also provides fascinating background info and anecdotes on the development of many of the sleeves.
